In this episode we speak with Mitch Marder,DDS a well-known Biological Dentist. We speak about such important topics like mercury amalgams, root canals, and how oral health is actually related to the entire field of health and medicine. For years, the field of dentistry has been seen as a distinct aspect of health focused on this “box” we call the mouth, yet we know how oral health is linked to brain health, gut health, and cardiovascular health. Conditions like gingivitis are associated with disease process elsewhere in the body and Dr. Marder opens our minds about holistic approaches to cavities and root canals.
Dr. Marder has been working in biomedical dentistry for over 30 years. His philosophy is that each person who entrusts their care to him deserves his best. Dr. Marder is a member of the American Academy of Craniofacial Pain, International Academy of Oral Medicine and Toxicology, Environmental Dental Association, Holistic Dental Association, American Orthodontic Society, American Academy for Functional Orthodontics, and Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine. His special interests are in Craniofacial Development (assisting the growing skull and cranium), Treating Sleep Disorders – being aware of the airway (apnea, snoring), Facial Pain – treating TMJ and headache issues, Dental Implants (introducing non-metal implants), and holistic care. He earned his Doctorate in Dental Surgery (D.D.S) from the University of Illinois in 1981 and his Bachelors in Art in Biology from Northwestern University in 1977.
